this thing called fluff

It’s Friday! I am so excited. The weather here? it is perfect. It is exactly what end of September weather should be: cool, crisp and just slightly breezy. The leaves are changing and it’s beautiful. It’s football weather. My parents are headed off to Little Sister’s University for family weekend, their last one ever. Well, their last one as parents. I’m assuming at some point they will be attending one as grandparents. Crazy. I can’t be sure, but I think Little Sister’s last year of school is bittersweet for my parents. I mean, heck, both of us attended private universities, so between the two of us there were six years of seriously painful tuition payments. But at the end of this year both of us will be officially out of the house. Done. So strange. When I graduated I could easily imagine not living with my parents. I had been out of the house during the summers since the summer before Junior year. But with Little Sister I have a slightly harder time. Just as it blew my mind that she turned 21 last week, the thought that she will be a *gulp* adult with a degree and all that in a few short months knocks me on my ass. I just can’t wrap my head around it. I plan on dealing with this in a mature way: I will ignore it until May and then let it all hit me at once and cry my eyes out at her graduation. Sound good to you? Yeah me too.

Nothing else today. Just going to enjoy my day and then make a run for it as soon as it’s 5 o’clock. I will be watching football tomorrow without jumping up and down.  No more (possibly) broken bones due to school spirit. I promise. Scout’s honor. Have a great weekend y’all!

  1. I’m gonna hold you to that “no broken bones” promise, ya know…

  2. My brother is exactly the same as your sister…21 and about to graduate. And I shutter at the fact that some unsuspecting company will hire him and not know what the heck they’re gonna get. He’s a good egg, has the heard of a soap opera star, but the concentration and focus? Not so much,
