Warning: SERIOUS whining to follow.
Few weeks of my life have ever gone by as slowly as this one, and it’s only Tuesday. The problem is, I worked on Saturday. I had Sunday off (even though I was awake at 6:30 because they’re ripping up the street outside my building) but spent the day running around doing errands, laundry and making thank you fudge for RugbyBoy. It wasn’t exactly a restful day. I like to spend at least one day a week doing very little. Just sitting around and letting my brain leak out my ear. It’s restful, relaxing, and since more and more frequently I find I’m working twelve or thirteen hour days, I need that time. I need to pop in a movie or curl up with some really trashy, intellectually un-taxing literature and just not think.
The rest of this week is going to be equally long. Tonight we are having a donor reception/thank you type deal to recognize those folks who have generously given money in support of the new library. I’m actually quite excited about this. It should be fun and it’s always nice to get to know the people who are supporting our project financially, but it will more than likely go until 8 or 9 tonight. This includes clean-up, settling with our caterer and the musicians. Last night I spoke at a Community Council Meeting to give an update on the progress on the new library. The meeting was very productive, very interesting and I made a lot of great connections, but it lasted until after 9. I catch my bus into work at 7:15. You do the math. I’ll have a normal day Wednesday (unless the Universe decides it really hates me) but I will be staying late both Thursday and Friday to attend events as a library representative.
As much as I complain, I love my job. I really do. I am so proud to be a part of this project and it will be very, very difficult to put it down at the end of November. BUT, I may just sleep for the entire first week of December.
Just remember: After work Friday you are coming drinking with us. It’s PFD day and there will be money to be spent. On you. Cause you don’t get one and I don’t want to be the only single person in our group. This is not me hitting on you. Telling you you should wear those new jeans cause they look damn good is hitting on you.

Did you make sure there were no books in this library that would offend Sarah Palin??

Yeah. The only books left were the King James Version of the Bible and a copy of Ann Coulter’s latest monstrosity.

Ugh, I know the feeling. The past few days have been stretching out forever. Doesn’t help that it’s been hotter ‘n heck at night (I have no a/c) and I haven’t been sleeping well, either…
Hope your life returns to a normal pace shortly!
