Fluff: Redux

It’s Friday, glorious Friday. My favorite part about Friday? Saturday comes after it and I get to sleep past 6…and the randomness that are my fluff posts. Fluff: Now in easy to share bite-size morsels.

Today, I will spend my day switching computers…again. The work-owned laptop that is my usual method of injecting the internet into my eyeballsgetting work done is finally back from the shop. IT guy brought it by yesterday with a severe warning along the lines of me not downloading strange programs that put spyware and viruses all over the computer.

I was slightly indignant. I do no such thing. The computer I work on right now, and have been working on for the past several months, is fine. Nothing is wrong, nothing I’m doing is causing the laptop to be possessed and spit green pea soup everywhere, and I’ve been doing the same things on this computer that I have the laptop. It’s just the laptop. It has a complex.

Anyway, I’m stoked to be able to move back to my desk. The biggest reason? The monitor Satan incarnate the laptop is plugged into makes it very difficult for someone to stand behind me and read over my shoulder. This is a serious pet peeve of mine and anything I can do to avoid it happening will be put into action as quickly as possible. Seriously, go away. You’re a creeper.

To continue on with last week’s theme, here are my next 10. Because clearly I’m very important and interesting and you all are on the edge of your seats in antici (SAY IT) pation. (Get that reference and be my friend for life.)

11. I am extremely nosey curious about what people have in their carts at the grocery store.
12. I am addicted to Wintergreen Lifesavers. I crunch them and can go through a bag of those little white candies at an alarming rate. Over the years I have found that the friends I’m closest to share this oddness though we’ve all come by it differently.
13. I overuse the phrase “you make me happy.”
14. I sing at the top of my lungs in the car.
15. When I remember stupid or embarrassing things I’ve done in the past they make me blush and I feel embarrassed all over again.
16. I am deathly allergic to shellfish. I am secretly happy about this because lots of seafood grosses me out.
17. I am an extremely picky eater, but not by choice. I try foods over and over again hoping I will start to like them.
18. I am much more likely to cry if I am angry or frustrated than if I am sad.
19. If I don’t pick up something quickly or learn it easily I get frustrated and see it as a failure.
20. I was in marching band in both high school and college and loved it.

There is this boy back home, we’ll call him MLG, who helps me pass the time when things get particularly monotonous at work. We email or text back and forth quite a bit. This morning’s email said this: “Waiting the 4 hours for Alaska to wake up is the most boring time ever.” It made me smile.

There. I hope this is enough to hold you over for a few days. I will be gloriously away from both cellphone reception and internet access for several days while I play in the wilderness with the fam. I leave tomorrow afternoon and will have lots of fun stories when I get back. Enjoy your weekend kids!

  1. I suppose whenever I come for a visit I will be the only one ordering the King Crab legs?

I also get re-embarrassed by past events/memories. This happens a lot more than I’d like.

  2. Yup. I had crab before my allergy developed (very young) and remember liking it. I also loved shrimp and mourned the loss of one of my favorite foods. I’ve never eaten lobster before and never will.
